Chapter twelve

The beach cottage wasn't what Mason had thought it would be. For some reason he figured that it would be around the size of his apartment. Maybe with an extra room. It wasn't that. What it was included three stories, and a basement. Down below was where the disassembler was set up, along with the new printer that he'd sent along.

Adam had the secondary power set up. The place was on solar anyway, but now, thanks to the alternate power source, they could actually run the equipment they had with them.

"Plus it will work all night, won't it?" Adam pointed that out, seeming pleased to have been able to do something himself.

Mason traced the lines that he needed, and started to get things hooked up.

"That's the plan. This looks good. Solid work. Now... We need to find some things to put in this hopper here. Trash and things like that? Scrap metal, rocks."

The singer didn't complain about the idea, just walking around the upper levels and finding things to put in the hopper in the basement. The machine hummed along, slowly making eleven different types of materials from what had been selected.

That was a good start. There was no gold, or silver, but enough copper to make the needed circuits for other things. Walking to the other machine, the new printer, he pointed at the blue colored card inside it.

"Adam, can you break that out of this? Just wiggle it."

"Won't that break it?"

"Not if we do it right. It will just disable the reporting to the Watch system."

The man did it, not being shy about the idea, once told about it. The piece snapped off pretty easily, but with a crack, coming out in his hand. Then Mason sealed the thing back up with a dull click.

"It's a special machine. Now it will act as a nano assembler, too. Let's load this up, you..." He didn't know how to broach the subject, but finally just pointed at the other machine. "That one is basically illegal to have. These both are, now. We can make what we need on it, and Watch won't know. There are three parts to the system. We need power that can't be measured, materials that no one knows to look for, and the ability to print things without the machine making a report to Watch. If you have this setup, you can do almost anything, without paying for it. Not genetics, but you get the idea. Now, the very first thing we need to do is set up a good food unit." It made sense to him.

That was ready in about an hour and a half. Then Mason got to work on the shield portions of things. Thinking about it, he nodded to himself, and built it into a package that no one would really care about. Then he started printing the various parts out. The imbed driver, which was what basically made it into a tattoo, the working components, and the program, which wasn't really needed for this one.
